NetRange and IAV Present New Automotive Entertainment Platform at CES

December 15th, 2015 - Hamburg, Germany: At the 2016 CES®, Jan. 6-9, in Las Vegas, NetRange and IAV will be presenting OS.CAR – a new platform for digital value-added services in passenger cars and commercial vehicles – on IAV’s demonstration vehicle. This exciting entertainment platform brings the traditional living room experience into cars by providing consumers with virtually unrestricted access to movies, linear TV channels, apps and games during a car trip. Apps within the system link web-based data and information with vehicle information.

“Together, we offer OEMs and suppliers an overall solution for connectivity and new entertainment services in cars,” said Torsten Herrmann, director of business development of Vehicle Cockpit at IAV. “NetRange provides OS.CAR, an ecosystem developed for the automotive world, and IAV integrates it into existing infotainment platforms.

While NetRange technology is already present in millions of smart TVs from the world’s leading manufacturers, this new solution is unique in that it is hardware-independent and OEM agnostic. OS.CAR can be easily integrated into existing infotainment system platforms and head units and the user interface can be designed to fit customer specifications.

“This solution gives consumers an array of entertainment opportunities while on the road and delivers our OEM customers an impressive amount of flexibility,” said Jan Wendt, CEO, NetRange. “We’re proud to offer our customers a cross-brand, neutral platform like OS.CAR, which can run on various operating systems.”

Both companies wish to bring digital value-added services to cars, offering OEMs the opportunity to stand out from the competition, bond customers even more strongly with their brands and enter into direct dialogue. All rights to use the content have been cleared – OEMs and content providers do not need to enter into separate agreements with each other. Likewise, all data generated is stored and handled in accordance with OEM instructions, ensuring data protection is guaranteed and access is controlled.

“At IAV, we like to make our customers’ lives easier and technologies such as this entertainment platform make that possible,” said Martin Richter, vice president of Vehicle Systems at IAV. “We’re excited to have developed this strategic partnership with NetRange and are looking forward to debuting this technology at CES.”

Interested parties can explore this new technology as part of the CES Vehicle Intelligence market place in the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center’s Gold Lot. Technology demonstrations will be taking place on-site via the ride and drive with IAV’s connected highly automated driving vehicles, which will give an inside look at the entertainment world of tomorrow’s vehicle.
